Cyber-Physical Solar Inverter for photovoltaic (PV) Systems

Abstract: A solar inverter is a power electronic device that converts direct current (DC) power generated by solar panels into alternating current (AC) power to deliver power to power grids. Performance of the current photovoltaic (PV) systems is limited by the on-board embedded systems in the solar inverters. Moreover, an expensive supervisory control and data acquisition system is still required for maintenance of the PV systems.

The goal of this project is to develop a new cyber-physical solar inverter platform for condition monitoring and fault diagnosis platform of the PV systems. The proposed cyber-physical platform incorporates the Internet of Things (IoT) embedded in the solar inverter and the cloud PV system management platform.
