Lack of Empirical Research Regarding Hispanic and Police Relations
Abstract: The Hispanic population in the United States is growing and in several major cities, it outnumbers other minorities. According to Weitzer (2014), “most studies of police-minority relations in America focus on blacks, usually in comparison with whites”. With the focus today on illegal immigration and sanctuary cities, it is important to understand police-citizen interactions with respect to Americas Hispanic population. This Research is intended to analyze the lack of scholarship regarding the topic; the review of missing usable data and research is intended to promote further study and argue its merits regarding law enforcement relations with Hispanic groups in the United States.
